UNBC sets itself apart from other universities in so many ways, including its outgoing northern personality. Students are not numbers at UNBC- small class sizes allow students to get to know each other well, and work one-on-one with their professors. The result is a relaxed, non-pretentious and productive environment in which students can grow both academically and socially.

62% of first and second year classes have fewer than 25 students. At the third and fourth year, the number is 75%.

UNBC recently opened a campus in Quesnel and a new campus in Terrace, which will open for classes in January. On the academic side, UNBC began offering a new Bachelor of Health Sciences in Fall 2006 and northern BC’s first Bachelor of Fine Arts is being developed with the Emily Carr Institute for delivery starting in Fall 2007.

Housing: The University of Northern British Columbia has accommodation on campus for single students only. The first residence apartment building was completed when the University opened its doors to students in September 1994. This was followed by a second, identical, residence, opened in September 1995, giving accommodation on campus for a total of 542 students.
