From the McGill website: With historic Mount Royal as a backdrop, the campus of McGill University is located in the centre of downtown Montreal, one of the most dynamic regions in North America, with over 3 million people and 4 universities. Its wide array of both cultures and languages provide a palette for the undergraduate mind: restaurants, nightclubs, museums and parks make Montreal a unique city in which to study.
The oldest university in Montreal, McGill was founded in 1821 by a £10,000 donation from prominent Scottish merchant, James McGill. Since that time, McGill has developed into a world-class learning institution with 2 campuses, 11 faculties, some 300 programs of study, and more than 36,000 students. McGill also works with 4 affiliated teaching hospitals to graduate over 1,000 health care professionals each year. The campus is a mosaic of historic and modern buildings. Thanks to bequests over the years from generous donors, the downtown campus is an oasis of green and beauty in the centre of a safe, sophisticated and uniquely bilingual city. A short drive west of downtown, McGill's Macdonald Campus sits on the shores of Lac St-Louis. This mix of academic buildings, research laboratories and student and staff housing is home to the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. Entrance Scholarships: range in value from $3,000 to $10,000 renewable. All scholarships are merit-based and financial need is not considered.
